"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along. You must do the thing you think you cannot do."

- Eleanor Roosevelt

COUNSELING

Visions Unlimited has long recognized that family, health and personal concerns can profoundly influence a child's growth and success. Our mental health services are provided with sensitivity to the client's family context, with a genuine commitment to the importance of the child's family and caregivers to treatment outcomes. Our mission is to empower our clients and their families to recognize their strengths, and to obtain skills and knowledge that will assist them in working towards mutually agreed-upon goals.

SCHOOL SITE COLLABORATION

Visions Children's Program collaborates with the Sacramento City and Galt Unified School District to provide mental health services to students and their families. Clinicians see children at the school site, as well as meeting regularly with their families at the school, in their homes or at our office, which increases the diversity of clients we are able to accommodate. This also increases our ability to collaborate directly with teachers and other school staff. Our current school sites include Luther Burbank High School, Bidwell Elementary School, Rosa Parks Middle School, Oak Ridge Elementary School, Pacific Elementary School, Mark Hopkins Elementary School and Fairsite Elementary School.

LINKAGE

Visions Unlimited links with other agencies to provide additional services when necessary. This can include, but isn't limited to Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS), and psychological testing. TBS provides short-term support for specific behavioral challenges in youth. Psychological testing may be requested when the counselor determines a need for clarification in diagnoses and additional information that will help them in providing effective services for the youth and family.

FUNDING

Visions Children's Programs receives funding through an ongoing contract with the Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services, which allows us to provide services for families with Medi-Cal. We also see clients who are authorized through an Individual Education Plan by their school district (AB 3632/26.5) due to emotional or mental health needs that impact a child's educational achievement.
